Afro World Delight

Our Story

Our Story

Made with heritage. Served with heart.

A West African meal prepared with care

Afro World Delight was created from a love for West African food, culture, and the feeling of gathering around a table to share a meal.

Behind AWD is a mother, a cook, and a woman who wanted to create something of her own while sharing the flavors she grew up knowing and loving.

The founder's answers

What AWD
means to me.

01

Why did I start AWD?

I started Afro World Delight because I wanted to bring authentic West African food to Omaha in a way that felt personal, welcoming, and true to where the food comes from. AWD isn't about changing African food to make it something else. It's about preparing the food the way it is meant to be enjoyed—with bold flavors, traditional ingredients, care, and plenty of love.

02

What does West African food mean to me?

West African food is more than a meal. It's family. Culture. Memories. Celebration. It's the smell of a pot cooking in the kitchen. It's recipes passed down through generations. It's sitting around a table with family and making sure nobody leaves hungry. My connection to West African food comes from my family's roots and the different culinary traditions that have shaped me, including Togo, Nigeria, Ghana, and the wider West/Central African region.

03

What makes AWD different?

Authenticity comes first. Every dish is prepared in small batches and made fresh for our customers. We focus on the flavors, techniques, and traditions that make West African food special rather than turning it into fusion or watering it down. From jollof rice and ayimolou to egusi, attiéké, plantain, fried yam, and puff puff, AWD is about giving you a taste of West Africa that feels genuine.

This is Afro World Delight.

Authentic West African cuisine. Made fresh in Omaha. Rooted in culture. Made to be shared.

Savor the world. Celebrate the culture.
